One of my most gracious little models, just capturing the moment on the sofa on Sunday afternoon. The main source of light was window light from the left, not to mention this little girls who is just a ray of sunshine herself!

I really love working with the natural light in Ireland, it is slightly blue in temperature and very "flattering", working great with different complexions and does not make harsh shadows on faces. This photo has been taken on an overcast day indoors with the use of portraiture lens and two windows as the main source of light.

This session took place almost a year ago in the heat of July 2016, yet it was an unforgettable experience. Lovely, happy children and a warm, welcoming family!

Although winter is on its way, and the sun is beginning to show itself less and less, browsing and editing late summer sessions warms up the heart. Here one of the three children I photographed in late July, playing in the garden. It was a grey day but we still managed to capture some rare sun rays, The illuminated yet hidden L. plays in the garden.

This photograph of these three amazing, bubbly and beautiful siblings has been taken recently in the living room of their house. It was lit by two large windows and the kids sat on a simple pillow in front of a brightly coloured wall, no extra props or artificial lighting was needed to get the finished result!
I think what attributed to such a lovely session was that it took place in a very relaxed atmosphere, with lots of patience and in the morning, when the kids were full of energy and excitement. From experience, the session runs smoothly if a treat or some other form of reward is promised for after the session, this way everyone is patient during a long shoot. We had a great time and these pictures will be cherished forever - I think that is an aim of a good photographer, and the standard of discreet professionalism should be kept each time in every house or studio.
How should you prepare for a newborn and family session?

I advise booking to be arranged roughly two weeks beforehand - it makes the event stress free and therefore more exciting as we have time to exchange all the information regarding the preparation for the session along with package details - what my client will receive for the price offered. I also get the chance to answer any burning questions such as
What is a digital file?
What is a JPG image?
What kind of framing, and print sizes do I provide?
What should we wear?
How long do we wait before getting a preview of the shots?
Will the pictures be fully edited?
Of course, such questions can be emailed to me at

What is my routine during a shoot?
I begin the shoot with the toddlers and babies first as they tend to get tired quite quickly and their excitement recedes. A good idea is good to have some treats prepared, just in case we need more time for photos. With the newborn babies there is no set idea of how your baby is going to act, it is easier to have the seession done by the time the newborn is around 14 days old.

So much love and happiness captured recently with baby Molly and her parents. An amazing session at home, with plenty of giggles, even a few tears following an unexpected family visit, and great natural lighting that helped to create these unforgettable snaps. Priceless experience with photos to be cherished forever.

I am lucky to say I had the privilege to work along side a master of contemporary natural light portrait, Magdalena Berny, in Rome, Italy, last May.  This masterclass was one of the most amazing experiences of my life, resulting in beautiful artistic portraits, including this stunning photograph.

What an "on location session" means and what is included:
On location photo session simply means that Iwill work with you in your home as opposed to in a studio. What I need is a room preferably with double bed - to pose the baby on - and a plain wall to be used as a backdrop. And most importantly: the window light. That is the natural light sourcewhich I will use to take all the lovely portraits of your baby and the family.  I believe this is most comfortable option for a newborn as well as for your family.

Yours were the first eyes I looked into.
Yours were the first arms to hold me tight.
You were the first to show me never-ending love and compassion.
Forever . . . you are my mother
And I am blessed.

It is important to capture those first  few moments of bonding and love between parents and their  new baby. As a mum of  two girls this subject is especially close to my heart and I just have one thing to say: I should've taken more portraits of them when they were younger, when there was a time they let me!
Make sure to capture such moments as often as possible!

Rachel made this special trip to Dublin - "it was on my bucket list" she stated - and hired me to take  a few photos of her trip. We had a lovely relaxed walk which included a bit of sightseeing but she had a special wish to take one wedding portrait as she wasn't particularly pleased with those from her wedding day.

A candid shot.
